Industry Canada Approval of Raveon's VHF Data Radio Modem
Raveon's VHF M7 data radio modems have been approved for sale in Canada. Working with our Canadian distributor, Communications Plus of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Raveon has obtained IC certification for the RV-M7-VB series of radio modems.
VHF Band M7 GX GPS Tracking Radio
Raveon's M7 GX
series of Radio Modems is the industry price/performance leader in GPS
tracking data radio modems. Our new VHF band version operates in the
150-174MHz frequency band and has an internal Trimble GPS receiver.
Production quantities will be available in July.
The VHF version of our M7 GX is the same size and weight as its UHF brother, and it has all of the features and performance of the UHF version, PLUS:
1. Dual IF filters. The RV-M7-VB supports BOTH wideband channel spacing and narrow-band channels.
2. Full-band tuning. The RV-M7-VB operates over the whole 150-174MHz frequency range, without requiring any re-tuning.
3. Dynamic data rates. The RV-M7-VB's over-the-air baud rate can be changed at any time from 1200 baud to 19,200 baud.
4. Low Current Consumption. The RV-M7-VB-GX draws less than 100mA when operating both the radio receiver and the GPS receiver, and draws less than 60mA when only tracking and reporting position.
The RV-M7-VB-GX is part of Raveon's RavTrack Real-Time GPS Tracking system. It is the fastest VHF/UHF GPS tracking system available and has no recurring fees. With RavTrack, you can track up to 20 vehicles or people per second, so you can track 200 vehicles with a 10-second update rate! The outstanding communication of the 5 watt VHF transmitter and sensitive receiver allows a RavTrack AVL system to cover hundreds of square miles.
The RV-M7-VB-GX may be configured to operate on any frequency in the 150-174MHz frequency range. We also have a version for export that works from 136-155MMHz called the RV-M7-VA-GX. It is approved for sale in the USA on licensed VHF radio channels up to 5 watts. Raveon also makes a MURS version, part number RV-M7-VM-GX for use in the USA on the license-free 2-watt MURS channels. The RV-M7-VB-GX is Industry Canada approved.

-
Ability to secure the user interface to the radio with a password
-
Simplified the configuration of a repeater with the REPEAT 1 command
-
Improved receiver sensitivity and packet throughput when receiving weak signals
-
Allow TDMA time slots to be set in 10mS increments instead of 50mS
-
Added ATCD command to allow the carrier detect function to be configured in dBm
-
On -GX units, the digital input state is latched when they are enabled with the TRIGBITS command.
-
The FREEWHEEL command will turn off transmissions after a preset time if GPS signal is lost
